And that’s even truer when you lose two key figures, as the Pittsburgh Steelers have at the inside linebacker position recently with season-ending injuries to Cole Holcomb and Kwon Alexander.
At inside linebacker, Roberts’ absence was compounded by the season-ending injuries suffered last month by Kwon Alexander and Cole Holcomb.
Cole Holcomb and Kwon Alexander already are on injured reserve and won’t return this season.
Focusing in on the new additions of Cole Holcomb, Elandon Roberts, and Kwon Alexander along with second-year Mark Robinson, they brought a tenacity and physicality missing from this unit last season.
“I had a wish list, there’s Soloman Thomas, Marcell Harris, DJ Reed, Kwon Alexander, guys who I’ve worked with who are very familiar with our messaging and very familiar with our scheme who can come in and play,” Saleh said.
That’s not the case this year, as Holcomb, Elandon Roberts and Kwon Alexander have all made an impact and helped the defense look a lot better at the second level.
